Has anyone taken the NOLS wilderness EMT course? I'm interested in taking the course in either Lander or Mt Shasta It's quite expensive so I would like to hear your experience if anyone did it Is it worth it? Are there any drawbacks? Would you recommend either Lander or Mt Shasta?

Because NOLS wants everybody to have a good experience, the instructors will help with conflict resolution when this happens Although my instructor admitted that my group was a unique in terms of the amount of conflict resolution talks we needed, this did somewhat take away from my experience

While NOLS focuses on hard-skill education -- practical skills like knots, campcraft, navigation, etc-- whereas OB focuses on both hard and soft skills Soft skills being effective leadership, communication, risk management, self-reliance, etc I would recommend their semester courses but all of their courses are a blast

Haven't been on any NOLS courses, but I've worked extensively with several people who have Their course descriptions and equipment checklists are very accurate They offer a ton of these courses every year, all over the world, to all kinds of people with different levels of experience, and need to provide a similar experience each time

I did a NOLS hybrid course That consisted of online learning that started about three weeks before the in-person component, then 4 1 2 days of on-site instruction Two of those days had an evening session The online part was three “modules” broken roughly into medical topics, environmental topics, and trauma topics
